Privacy policy
Your family's learning belongs with your family.
Effective September 30, 2026
This policy explains how Aaron Britt Eplion, the developer of Brainiac Family apps, handles information in the apps listed below and on brainiacsfamilylearning.com. This policy also covers Pasture Parent for iPhone and Android, provided by SCADAReach LLC, as described in its separate section below.
Learning information stays on your device
The apps listed here do not require a Brainiac online account. They do not upload study photos, recognized text, answers, notes, chores, parent PINs, or Screen Time selections to us or to a remote AI service. We do not run a cloud account or synchronization service for this app content.
These apps do not contain third-party advertising or advertising trackers, and we do not sell or rent your personal information. Apple and Google services, website hosting, and information you choose to send for support are described separately below.
What each app uses
The entries below describe the iPhone and iPad apps. Vocabulary for Android is described in its own section below. Not every app uses every permission or service in this policy.
- Brainiac - Vocabulary (iPhone and iPad)
- Brainiac - Flash Cards
- Brainiac Study
- Brainiac Homework
- Brainiac Toolkit
- Brainiac – Kid
- Brainiac – Teens

- Brainiac - Vocabulary (iPhone and iPad)
- Selected vocabulary-list photos are read on your device. The current word list, its meanings, missed words, and correct and attempted counts are kept on your device between launches, including before you name and save a list. Named lists are stored locally when you save them. Answers in an unfinished Friday Test are not kept. Premium access is checked through Apple.
- Brainiac - Flash Cards
- Flash Cards does not collect your data. There are no accounts, analytics, ads, tracking, or developer-operated backend. Add from Photos accesses only the photo you select through Apple’s photo picker; Apple Vision recognizes its text on your device. Photos and recognized text are not uploaded. There is no camera capture, microphone recording, or Screen Time feature in Flash Cards. Cards, named decks, save dates, and the current draft are stored locally in UserDefaults, including draft recovery between launches. Clear the current deck or delete saved decks with the app’s controls; clearing a draft does not delete saved decks. Spoken terms use on-device speech synthesis. Apple StoreKit handles the optional lifetime Premium purchase and Restore Purchases; the app checks Apple’s verified purchase status. Premium is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. Apple purchases, device backups, website visits, and information you voluntarily send for support are described separately below.
- Brainiac Study
- Study-sheet photos, recognized terms, definitions, answers, and quiz progress are used on your device during the study session. Purchase access is checked through Apple.
- Brainiac Homework
- Homework photos, recognized questions, entered answers, feedback, and practice questions are processed on your device during the session. Purchase access is checked through Apple.
- Brainiac Toolkit

- Brainiac – Teens
- Study words, parent settings, selected Screen Time app/category tokens, and quiz-required status are stored on the device. A parent PIN is stored in the device Keychain. Apple handles authorized Screen Time controls and purchase access.
- Brainiac – Chores
- Chores, completion information, reward points, optional spelling words, and Screen Time selections are stored on the device. A parent PIN is stored in the device Keychain. Apple handles authorized Screen Time controls and purchase access.
Pasture Parent for iPhone and Android
Pasture Parent is a livestock record app from SCADAReach LLC. No app account is required. Animal details, breeding dates, offspring, care history, weights, check-ins, and selected photos are stored locally on your device. The app does not send these records to us, and it contains no advertising, analytics SDK, or tracking. It does not use the learning, speech, camera-scanning, or Screen Time features described for the Brainiac apps elsewhere in this policy.
Photos: you choose individual images through your device's system photo picker. Pasture Parent saves a copy with the animal record and does not request access to your entire photo library. The photo is not sent to us or to an AI service. This differs from the temporary study-photo imports described below.
Reminders: with your permission, animal check-in and delivery reminders are scheduled on your device. Animal names may appear on your lock screen. You can change notification permissions and previews in your device settings. On Android, reminders use background checks after 9 a.m.; checks can be missed when the device is off or battery settings prevent them, and missed reminders do not arrive on a later day. On iPhone, delivery reminder coverage adapts to herd size, up to six milestones per animal; larger herds may have only their next milestones queued. Reopen the app to queue later milestones.
Purchases: free use supports two animals total, including offspring. Unlimited Animals is an optional one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase with no subscription. Apple processes iPhone purchases and Google Play processes Android purchases. The app checks verified transactions to unlock or restore access; Android stores a signed purchase receipt locally and checks purchase status when Google Play is available. Google Play Billing uses Google services for payment processing and technical billing events. We do not receive your store-account password or full payment-card details. Owner-issued complimentary codes are checked and stored locally on Android, without sending animal records to us. Restore Purchases is available on the upgrade screen. Store purchase records are separate from your local animal records. Apple and Google purchases are separate. Google's services are described in the Google Privacy Policy.
Retention and deletion: use the app's controls to delete records. Deleting an animal also deletes its linked offspring and care records; offspring already promoted to independent herd records are retained. Deleting the app removes its local records. On iPhone, offloading preserves records and Apple device backups may include records and photos. On Android, clearing app storage also removes records, app backup and device transfer are disabled, and there is no cloud sync or export. We cannot remotely read or delete your local animal records. Deleting the app does not erase Apple's or Google's purchase records.
Support: if you email us, we receive your email address and the information or attachments you choose to send. We use them to answer your request and investigate the issue, retaining them as needed for follow-up or applicable recordkeeping obligations. Please avoid sending sensitive information. Contact aaroneplion@gmail.com for help or to request access, correction, or deletion of information you sent us. See Pasture Parent support for purchase and record guidance. Apple services and website visits are covered separately below.
Brainiac - Vocabulary for Android
No Brainiac account is required. Your words, meanings, named lists, missed words, and correct and attempted counts are kept in private storage on your device, including before you name and save a list. Each named list keeps its own practice progress. Unfinished Friday Test answers are not written to disk. If a save fails, the app keeps changes in memory and asks you to retry before closing.
Selected photos: Android's system photo or document picker gives the app access to the image you select. Google's bundled ML Kit model recognizes the text on your device. Worksheet images and recognized words are not sent to us or to Google for recognition. The app does not keep a permanent copy of the selected image. A photo provider may download a selected image from your own cloud photo library.
Google SDK diagnostics: ML Kit sends technical information to Google for diagnostics and usage analytics. This includes device model and operating system, app and SDK versions, per-installation identifiers, processing performance, image format and resolution, input and output sizes, API events, and error codes. These metrics do not include your worksheet image or recognized words. Google describes encrypted transmission and its handling in the ML Kit data disclosure and ML Kit terms and privacy information. Google Play Billing also uses Google services to process purchases and report technical billing events. The app has no advertising or separate advertising or analytics SDK and does not request location, contacts, camera, microphone, or advertising-ID permission.
Speech: spoken words use an installed offline English voice. The app asks you to install one in Android settings if needed. It does not record audio.
Premium purchases: Google Play processes the optional one-time lifetime purchase. The app sends Google a random, obfuscated installation identifier to help associate the purchase with this installation. It stores a signed purchase receipt locally, verifies Premium access, and checks your purchase status again when Google Play is available. Google handles payment details; the app does not receive your Google password or full payment-card details. Purchases can be restored with the purchasing Google Play account. Apple and Google purchases are separate.
Deletion and retention: edit or delete individual words and delete named lists in the app. Deleting a current word does not delete a separately saved copy until you save that change. Clearing app storage in Android settings or uninstalling removes local vocabulary, receipts, and any local recovery copies. Android app backup and device transfer of this data are disabled; there is no Brainiac cloud backup or synchronization. Deleting the app does not remove Google's purchase records. Google's handling of service data and privacy controls is described in the Google Privacy Policy. We cannot identify or remotely delete SDK diagnostics held by Google using the local word lists. Contact us below about information you have sent directly for support.
Photos, camera access, and spoken words
In the Brainiac learning apps for iPhone and iPad, when you choose a photo or use an app's camera feature, the image is used to recognize printed text with Apple's on-device text recognition. The apps use the selected image for the import and do not maintain a separate saved photo library. Recognized words or study content may be saved as described for your app above. Your original photo remains under your control in Photos.
You can use manual-entry or demo features where available without granting camera access. Spoken-word features play speech and sounds; they do not record your microphone.
Screen Time and parent controls
Brainiac – Kid, Brainiac – Teens, and Brainiac – Chores use Apple's Family Controls, Device Activity, and Managed Settings features when you authorize them. Your selections are represented by Apple-provided app and category tokens. The app and its Screen Time extensions share these settings locally to apply restrictions and respond to activity thresholds.
We do not receive those selections, activity events, or parent PINs. Parent PINs are stored in the device Keychain, not in a Brainiac server account. You can manage or revoke Screen Time authorization in your device's settings.
Apple purchases, backups, and diagnostics
Where an app offers paid access, Apple processes purchases and restores. The app reads Apple's transaction and entitlement status to determine access. We do not receive your full payment-card details. Apple may provide sales reports, diagnostics, or TestFlight feedback according to its services and your settings.
Device backups are controlled by your Apple settings and may include app data. A backup is separate from a Brainiac cloud-sync service. Apple's handling of its services is described in the Apple Privacy Policy.
Your choices, retention, and deletion
- Saved work: use the app's edit, clear, or delete controls where available. In Vocabulary, clearing the current words does not delete separately saved lists; remove those through Open a Saved List. Flash Cards has separate controls for clearing the current deck and deleting saved decks.
- Session content: some apps hold unsaved study-session information only in memory. Flash Cards keeps its current draft locally for recovery between launches. Brainiac - Vocabulary keeps its current word list and practice progress on the device until you clear the words, replace the list, or delete the app.
- Removing an iPhone or iPad app: deleting the app removes its ordinary local app storage. Offloading an app keeps its documents and data. Keychain items, device backups, and Apple purchase records can remain separately; reinstalling is not a guaranteed parent-PIN reset.
- iPhone and iPad permissions: manage camera, photo access, and authorized Screen Time controls in iOS Settings. Removing permission prevents the related feature from using that access.
- Apple backups and purchases: manage backups and purchase or subscription settings with Apple. Deleting an app does not cancel an Apple subscription.
We cannot remotely read or delete content that stays only on your device. For information you have sent to us, contact us to request access, correction, or deletion. Support messages are kept as needed to address the request and related follow-up, or to meet applicable recordkeeping obligations.

Children and family support
Our learning apps are designed for family use without sending a child's learning content to us. We do not ask children to create a Brainiac online profile or provide contact information in these apps. A parent or guardian should manage purchases, permissions, and support requests.
If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and whatever information or attachments you choose to send. We use this information to respond and investigate the issue. Please avoid sending children's names, school details, or other sensitive information when a sample without personal details will work.
